Why is evelyn bad

Moxy3 Forum regular 14 Dec 27, Generally normal human being start to "care" if they have prolonged interaction with a character, in CP there is no real long-term attachment or interaction though. Evelyn seems the most real character in the game, her expressions and mannerisms really feel like a real person's, she also has an air of mysteriousness about her.

I wanted to know more about her. I actually thought she was going to be a huge character in the game. Kikinho Senior user 16 Dec 27, Whitesad Forum regular 17 Dec 27, RedStigg Forum regular 18 Dec 27, I juste discovered today that two characters I liked very much, t-bug and Evelyn died and very abruptly This is exactly why im so shocked that i got so attached to Evelynn that quickly and she became my favourite character, even though we have seen almost nothing from her.

It just shows that she was a really good character who suffered from getting offed too early and having almost no screentime. Moxy3 Forum regular 20 Dec 27, Whitesad said:. So did I, maybe she was supposed to be. Maybe at one point they thought "nevermind let's discard that one too", who knows. Similar threads. Jake hasn't picked up on Evelyn's hints, like when she'd told him earlier after they had sex :.

You don't know how dangerous. You don't know how crazy. We finally learn the truth about Evelyn when Jake confronts her and accuses her of holding Hollis's mistress captive.

He slaps her multiple times, while Evelyn says first, "She's my sister" and then "She's my daughter. Evelyn explains that when she was just fifteen years old, her father had sex with her—when Jake asks "Did he rape you? Now, she wants to escape with her daughter, preventing her father from further destroying their lives.

Of course, it all ends tragically: her father tracks her down to Chinatown, where she tries to shoot him, but fails to cause a serious injury. But, still, Evelyn behaves with real courage, both for herself and for her daughter.

She doesn't remain cowed by Noah—after all, she tries to kill him. Her tragedy is that she dies and her daughter gets stolen, but at least she still has a "seize the sword" moment.

By contrast, Jake's "seize the sword moment" gets stolen from him, and he's never able to gain control over the chaos in the final scene or really take on the bad guys.

So, we're left feeling bad for Evelyn…but we're also left admiring her too. Upon confronting the driver of the monorail, Elastigirl finds that he has no memory of what had happened, as well as a message to her written by someone called "The Screenslaver".

Because of her successful rescue attempt, the public begins to respect Elastigirl, who is invited to a televised interview. However, Screenslaver hijacks the interview by brainwashing everyone near a screen, revealing his intentions to assassinate the ambassador Elastigirl had met with earlier. Fortunately, Elastigirl succeeds in rescuing the ambassador from demise, foiling Screenslaver's plan. The next day, after being introduced to a group of new superheroes inspired by her actions Voyd, He-Lectrix, Reflux, Screech, Krushauer, and Brick , Elastigirl and Evelyn begin to bond, where they both realize how to find Screenslaver: that being to trace his signal while he is broadcasting.

Determined to catch Screenslaver, Elastigirl sets up another interview in which she does not physically appear, and, as predicted, Screenslaver broadcasts again and takes control of all who are viewing. Screenslaver rants about how superheroes like Elastigirl are all part of humanity's growing need to replace everything meaningful and important in their lives with simulations while never rising to face anything challenging or to do anything themselves. All the while, Elastigirl tracks Screenslaver down to an apartment complex, where she discovers a large amount of research and devices related to hypnotism.

Screenslaver traps the two of them in a box with hypnotic lights and attacks Elastigirl using an electroshocking weapon that neutralizes her elasticity. However, Screenslaver finds himself still overpowered by Elastigirl and sets a bomb to destroy his apartment while he escapes.

After chasing Screenslaver down, Elastigirl unmasks him to find a young man who does not remember what had happened to him.

Ignoring the man's claims of being just a normal pizza delivery guy who had absolutely no recollection of anything that happened, Elastigirl has him arrested for his crimes. During a celebration at the Deavor estate, Helen realizes that the hypnoscreens the Screenslaver has made are also within his Hypno-goggles.

As Helen puts the pieces together, Evelyn forces that pair of goggles on Helen's face. Elastigirl wakes up tied to a chair in a sub-zero temperature room. Evelyn appears behind a glass window and reveals herself to be the mastermind behind the Screenslaver, stating that she despises superheroes, believing they keep civilians weak, just like what had led to her father's murder. She also sees her brother's mission as a threat to humankind's independence.

Evelyn then tricks Bob into 'rescuing' Helen before the hypnotized heroine forces another pair of hypno-goggles onto Bob, putting him under Evelyn's control as well. Later, Lucius also ends up captured and put under Evelyn's control by the controlled wannabe heroes, although the Parr kids evade capture themselves.

Dash, Violet, and Jack-Jack, whom Edna had fitted with a super-suit, sneak aboard the Deavor's ship to rescue their parents. At the same time, Evelyn proceeds with the next stage of her plan by hypnotizing the assembled leaders, supers and Winston, and also forcing the mind-controlled Helen, Bob, and Lucius to discredit themselves by announcing in the news that they will no longer save people.

They attack the ship's crew and redirect it, threatening to crash the ship into New Urbrem. It's only considered unisex because of the surname I guess?

Anyways, I much prefer Evelyne, Eveleen, and Eveline. It's much tolo common spelled this way. First off, Evelyn is super popular. I mean, where do you people come from? It's even more popular than Elizabeth, Julia and Victoria. This is in I love my name and always happy to meet someone else named Evelyn.

Kids at school always make fun of my name by saying it's an old lady name or they snicker whenever a substitute teacher says my name out loud. Like Eve or what? Anyways, I don't recommend naming your child this if you want them to get made fun of. Definetly only for girls. It's a surname from a feminine name, not masculine. I always found this name to be too cutesy for my taste, either on a boy or a girl. I prefer Aveline, Evangeline, or Evelina.

I personally kinda like it as a male name, but only when pronounced Eev-lin, all other ways are feminine to me. I have no idea why, especially seeing as how I'm American and have never encountered a male person with this name or a female for that matter. Though really I only like it when pronounced Eev-lin, so I guess I prefer it as a male name My name is Evelyn.

Male Evelyn, pronounced eev'-lin. It seems like it's a completely feminine name in the US but here in the UK it's much more androgynous, if rare all across the board. I actually changed my own name to Evelyn because my given name was pretty dire, and if you're going to change your legal name, I figure, you might as well pick something interesting.

In debates I've had about whether it's a masculine or feminine name, other Brits generally feel that Evelyn as a girl's name is somewhat pretentious. Most of our female names end with "-a", so hard to think of Evelyn as a name for a female.

Evelyn doesn't have to be linked to Eve, which some people may find off putting. It can be said as ev - ah - lyn, as apposed to eve - lyn, and nicknames such as Evy ev - ee or just Ev can be used instead of Eve. Beautiful, cute, classy name.

I love the name Evelyn for a girl. This is a wonderful vintage name. This name is obviously for a girl. I don't get how it sounds masculine for some people. Also, for me it doesn't sound old fashioned, but it's better than modern names like Brittney.

I'm the oddball here - I don't like this for a girl at all. It actually sounds better suited to a male similar to Everett, Evan, etc. To me, it sounds like the old-fashioned guys' name that it is like Ira. It seems crazy to me that years ago names like Evelyn and Vivian were used for boys - now they're wholly feminine.

What's even more curious is that, while Vivian is probably my favorite feminine name, and I love names with the 'v' sound in general Donovan, Silvana, Yvette, etc. I think it's because all the vowels are so short. Aveline, on the other hand, is lovely. No offense- this is too old fashioned for my liking. How this name used to be a males name only, scares me.

Evelyn is not suitable for a boy one bit. It's not masculine at all. The only masculine name even close would be like Evan or Franklin. Naming a boy this where I live would be so degrading. Such a pretty name, but on a guy I love it on a girl, it's feminine and classy.

Evelyn is, IMO, a beautiful name, but is rare and "old-fashioned" in that it was popular in the early 20th century. There was a popular song of the 's about "heavenly Evelyn. Personal preference, apparently.

Also in the UK, it can be a female OR male name. I was born in My mum named me after her closest friend born in the 's. I was the only Evelyn at school. We are still few and far between. My mother b. When I was born in , my parents also named me Evelyn.

Needless to say, when I was growing up, most people named Evelyn were a generation or more removed. However, now the name is trendy again. My name is Evelyn! It wasn't very common when I was born, except for on older women.

When I was younger I disliked it for that reason, but around junior high I started to appreciate its old fashioned charm. I'm very happy it's making such a comeback- if it wasn't my name I would seriously consider it for a daughter.

A lovely old-school unisex name. One of the few names ending in -lyn that I actually really like. My guess is the fact that it does end in -lyn is a factor in its sudden popularity, along with a revival of some pretty great 19th century names. Evelyn has withstood the test of time and can suit any age without sounding out of place It's just a beautiful name!

Of course Evie can be a nickname, adorable or maybe Linnie, if you want to use the end sound of the name. I highly recommend this name, use it now before it becomes too trendy! Love this name! So happy to see it's making a comeback, beautiful vintage names like Evelyn are so much better than trashy "trendy" names! It is pronounced EVE-lin first syllable rhymes with Steve. I really like this name. But can you imagine a 30 yr.

No offence to those that are males and do have that name! Sorry, but this name has not outgrown its old-lady status. I don't know how people can want to name a baby girl this when the nursing homes are filled with Evelyns. Also it's not a very nice sounding name; brings to mind the words javelin and evil. HI I love the name Evelyn, but that person who said it was an old person's name, and that your grandma's nursing home roommate was named Evelyn, that is the worst excuse for not liking the name, because of the following reasons; 1.

This is an important one! If you think about it, the Evelyn in a nursing home was young once. They were fit and modern and young once! They weren't always old! So they weren't always in a nursing home, and until my friend Evelyn is 99 I won't count it as an old lady's name for her. Her roommate is a nice person. What if her roommate is a really nice person, she is probably younger than your grandma.

Also imagine how you would feel if your grandma told her what your username on behind the name was, and she was looking at your comment right now and crying her eyes out.

We have enough mean comments out there without anyone adding anymore. Love this name. The nickname Evie makes it more modern. I didn't know this was a masculine name as well as feminine.

I don't like this for a masculine name at ALL. Love, love, love. I also think the nickname Evie is really cute. I guess it's a pretty name, but too old fashioned for my liking. She was cradled by a taxi, and a photographer took a famous photo of her lying there peacefully, which was shown in TIME. The movie focuses upon the plight of a government agent who has been wrongly accused of being a Russian assassin that is out to take down the U.

A Columbia Pictures production from writer Kurt Wimmer. Directed by Phillip Noyce. It's so lively and fun. I do not think the argument for Evelyn as a male name is very good. True, it's technically from a surname, but the surname comes directly from the female name Aveline.

I personally see this name as a "reinterpretation" of Aveline or Eveline, or an elaboration of Eve, and not as a surname-name at all.
